It is with great pleasure that I greet you as President of VASPA. Thank you for visiting our website. I also thank you for your support during the past two years during my tenure as your President. I am certain that you will also give your full support to our new President, Ms. Carole Nelson of Charlottesville City Schools, when she takes office on July 1, 2014.

As school human resource professionals we work hard to assure competent, qualified teachers are in place to educate the young people in our great Commonwealth. The job we do is the most important in our school divisions. Without the recruitment, screening, selecting and hiring of competent staff we risk the failure of our school divisions and students.

I encourage you to join VASPA as our goal is to continue increasing the membership of our organization. All school divisions in the Commonwealth should have a VASPA member as a part of its human resource staff. Be viable; be relevant; join VASPA.

Our Spring Conference on March 21  was a resounding success. The Virginia Department of Education's Office of Licensure  provide a thorough interactive presentation for us all on the ongoing and planned business in the area of Teacher Licensure. Pat Lacy shared important information from the 2014 Virginia General Assembly. The DOE presentation is found at this link and Pat Lacy's talking points are here.

Again, I thank you for your support during my time in office and ask that you enthusiastically support your new President.
